BIS stands for Bureau of Indian Standards, and it's the governing body in charge of granting quality certifications to products that meet the necessary safety and quality standards in India.

The ISI mark indicates that a specific product meets the required Indian standards and is therefore approved for sale within India.

All manufacturers, importers and foreign businesses dealing with commodities contained within a BIS mandatory scheme must have a BIS certification.

The purpose of the ISI mark is to protect consumers by ensuring that the products made in India are of good quality, providing the customers with confidence in purchasing the product, and allowing for the legal sale of a product that is regulated by Indian law.
