ISI Mark Certification
ISI Mark Certification is one of the Product Certification Schemes administered by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to verify that products conform to the applicable Indian Standards relating to safety, quality, and performance. The ISI Mark serves as a symbol of compliance and provides assurance to consumers that the certified product has been independently evaluated and meets the prescribed regulatory requirements.
The certification process typically involves product testing, assessment of the manufacturing facility, and verification of quality control systems to ensure consistent compliance with the relevant standard.
While normally the process starts with application to BIS followed by Factory Inspection, Sample sealing by BIS, testing as BIS authorised lab etc.,
As an option for Indian Manufacturers, products under liberalised schemes are allowed to be considered for ISI Mark License based on applications submitted along with test reports issued by BIS-recognised labs. In such cases, the Factory Inspection etc., is done subsequent to the grant of the License.
ISI Mark Certification for overseas manufacturers is handled under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) that is separately defined.
