CCOE is one of the mandatory requirements when it comes to installation of all electrical equipment in possible explosive environment. Rule 106 of the Petroleum Rules 2002 defines electrical equipment used in hazardous locations requires a CCOE approval.
Petroleum And Explosive Safety Organization – PESO
PESO is as an organization under Ministry of Commerce and Industry Govt. of India. headquartered in Nagpur, INDIA. This organization approves products for suitability in usage at Petroleum or any place which may be explosive in nature (rich in perfect combustible atmosphere).
Chief Controller of Explosives (CCoE) under PESO is the exclusive organisation that approves electrical equipment for use in hazardous locations. The range of products covered varies from transducers to lighting to motors and generators etc.
While approvals are possible based on approved labs in India, CCoE offers a fast track solution to products qualified under European (ATEx) or International (IECEx) systems.
